MINNESOTA HOCKEY IS HERE

Hello, Minnesota Sports Fans!

We finally hit the sweet spot of Fall sports where we had professional football, baseball, and hockey all overlapping (not to mention a little pre-season basketball too!). The Wolves have one more preseason game on Thursday until the regular season begins next Wednesday, October 25th in Toronto against the Raptors. The Vikings just secured their second win after starting the season a little rocky. Unfortunately, the Twins lost their series, ending their postseason run, but we have a lot of exciting sporting events to follow these next couple of months!

Starting with the return of Wild hockey, whose season started last Thursday, October 12th. So far, their record is 1-1, with another game tonight on the road! There are great expectations for the Wild this year.

MEET A NEW(-ish) FACE

Introducing Brock Faber, the Maple Grove, Minnesota native who was part of the Gophers runner-up finish at the 2023 NCAA Frozen Four and who won Big Ten Conference regular season championship. Brock Faber scored his first career NHL goal in the Wild’s home opener, only further solidifying his role with the team. How fun is it to cheer for the hometown kid?!

WHAT’S EXPECTED FOR THIS SEASON

The Wild have two rookies, Brock Faber and Marco Rossi, who are replacing more expensive and experienced players that the Wild opted out against in the off-season, however, their performances so far have proven to be the right move! The Wild extended key players like Gustavsson, Foligno, and Hartman, so they’re predicted to make the playoffs again this year according to The Hockey News.  In the 2023-2024 Season Preview, GM Bill Guerin mentions how "The Wild would like to be more dynamic offensively after finishing 23rd in goals scored per game" and it seems like they've built the perfect team to do so. We're cheering for a long playoff run this year!
